My love of Cats and My Husband!

Today I received a huge shock! Remember when I said that I love cats more than any other animal? I also jokingly said that I was having a hard time choosing between husband and cat. Here's the picture of both...to refresh your memory (the one on the right was what he looked like to me at the time of that post)

I was at war with my husband when I suddenly realized why I was so attracted to him. For a moment, as my husband went into his normal routine of getting angry, raising his voice, pacing back and forth across the room and turning to pounce on me (just kidding!) I finally got the connection between my husband and my love of cats! I got this very vivid picture in my mind of who was really confronting me...are you ready for the shocker? Here it is:

So, all this time I was wondering why I was so attracted to him, and I wasn't aware that I was choosing my favorite animal in the whole world to be my lifelong partner! I know you probably think I am crazy (maybe I am...at least I admit it!) And the best part is that I can match him roar for roar! And really like that famous saying goes his bark is worse than his bite. I can give as good as I get. When I get angry this is what my relationship looks like:

So it seems as if I really did pick my soulmate! And we lived happily ever after...hmmm...or do we...more to come!

Amazing SandArt and Animals

What a lovely video on using sandart to show the beauty of animals! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Another reason I think cats rule! They get along with other animals, if you pair them up when they are babies! My cat Suki got along with our Cockatoo and our Cockatiels! He never tried to attack them. In fact, we would put the cockatiel on top of him and he wouldn't even flinch! It was amazing to watch these two very different animals, one prey and the other predator get along. Not something you see every day. So take a look at this and tell me that it's not an amazing and beautiful event! I wish the human race could get along as well as they do!

My First Post About Cats!

Cats are so cool! I love and admire them more than any other animal. They are mysterious, affectionate, finicky, silent, graceful and often funny. I have owned cats throughout my life and find them to be a better companion then any other animal! I know many people love dogs and would say I am crazy for loving cats so deeply...but for me cats rule!

My cat, Suki, died 6 years ago. When this happened I was devastated. It was painful, and I felt like I had lost my best friend! Suki would keep me company at all times. When I was studying, he'd jump on my desk, walk around in a circle and then curl up on top of my current work in progress. He stayed with me until I finished. Wherever I went, Suki followed, sometimes getting under my feet! Before eating, he'd look for me, meow to get attention, wait until I looked at him and then ask me to follow him. Well...he didn't actually ask me, he'd meow, turn around, head for the food and if I still didn't get the message he'd keep doing this until I did! When I followed him, he would purr in contentment and eat while keeping an eye on me to make sure I stayed by his side.

He was a special part of the family and brought love, humor and grace into my life. Best of all, was the fact that he was a precious gift from my husband.

My husband found him hanging out by the apartment's dumpster. Suki was a tiny little thing, starving and meowing out of hunger. My husband, who wasn't fond of cats but felt sorry for this beautiful, tiny charcoal grey kitten and decided to bring him home. I think he was trying to win my heart as he knew that I loved cats! Suki was the first gift that my husband (who was my boyfriend of 2 months at that time) presented me with, and I or course was overjoyed! In fact, my husband became jealous of the close bond I had with my cat and accused me of loving the cat more then him. Hmmmm...looking at them side by side, I can see why he was jealous! It was a very very difficult choice...but in the end Suki won my heart! (Just kidding!)

Which one would you chose! Husband or Cat?

His life was tied to ours in more ways than one and so I've decided to start this blog in memory of Suki the coolest cat to enter my life!
